I am writing this post in disgust as somebody I respect dearly was treated badly at the hands of the Police at a peaceful demonstration in Pakistan. Pervez Hoodbhoy is a dear friend, a mentor of sorts, and a true patriot. It was sad to see him in a scuffle with jahil policemen at a demonstration to show solidarity with the Baloch. Pervez has always stood up in support of the rights of the oppressed. He has done so inspite of numerous threats against his personal self, and against any odds. He has always stood for what he believed is right, and I am indebted to him for teaching us never to stand back from justice. I am saddened (and angry) that he was not shown the respect he deserves, but I also wish to send him a message that he is in my thoughts. I support his stand and wish him success in promoting the cause of the betterment of Baloch life in these turbulent times.
